2 From Colo. Die In I-70 Truck Collision In Utah

SALT LAKE CITY (AP) ― The Utah Highway Patrol has identified two Coloradans killed when their pickup truck collided with another vehicle on Interstate 70.

A news release identifies them as 59-year-old Richard C. Braun of Edgewater and 49-year-old Cindy Bird of Westminster.

Braun and Bird were in a pickup merging from northbound Interstate 15 to eastbound I-70 about noon Saturday when another truck pulled off the median and made a left turn across traffic lanes.

The trucks collided and Braun's pickup went into the median, skidded and rolled several times.

Bird died at the scene. Braun suffered severe head injuries and died while being transferred between hospitals.

The driver of the second truck, a 71-year-old woman from Lavern, suffered minor injuries.

Police say beer cans and prescription medications were found in the woman's truck.
