The mother of a woman who survived a crash on Santa Fe in Littleton that killed two other drivers Saturday morning said her daughter had just graduated to become a nurse.
"She loves nursing," said Joan Horan of her daughter Kelly Joan Horan. "It's such an irony that now she relies on others to care for her."
The accident happened at about 7:45 a.m. in the 5200 block of S. Santa Fe Drive.
A Mercedes for some reason started going on the wrong side of the highway and slammed into a Honda. It then was knocked up in the air and smashed into a Ford.
The drivers of the Mercedes (Richard Scott Hogsett, 36, of unincorporated Jefferson County) and the Ford (Neva Christine Mondragon, 27, of Denver) were killed. Kelly Joan Horan, 26, was the driver of the Honda.
Two other vehicles were damaged in the crash.
Investigators are awaiting pathology and toxicology reports on Hogsett to help determine why he may have driven into oncoming traffic.
