Oxygen Tanks Make Fire Rescue Difficult In Aurora

AURORA, Colo. (CBS4/AP) ― Aurora firefighters say a woman suffered severe burns on her face, arms and chest in a fire that destroyed her house.

Investigators haven't officially determined what caused the fire Friday night but say it probably started in the back bedroom.

Firefighters entered the home and rescued the 60-year-old woman, who was using an oxygen tank.

Firefighters said the oxygen tank made the rescue more difficult.

"While they were attacking the fire she was on home oxygen and some of the oxygen bottles started going off inside the home," Mark Turley with the Aurora Fire Department said. "So we moved to an exterior attack. We were able to get the fire out within a few minutes."

The woman is listed in critical condition.
