2 Injured, Dozens Evacuated In Boulder Fire

BOULDER, Colo. (CBS4/AP) ― Two women are in critical condition after an apartment fire ripped through a Boulder apartment complex Saturday evening.

The women have severe burns and have been flown to a Denver hospital for treatment. Boulder Police Spokeswoman Sarah Huntley says the women are 21 and 26 years old. One man has been hospitalized with smoke inhalation.

The blaze started at about 7 p.m. at the Fairways Apartments located at 5620 Arapahoe Ave.

The Daily Camera newspaper reports that 75 people were evacuated from the burning complex and two adjacent buildings.

Police said one of the women who was burned jumped through the flames.

"My step father helped the one that was severely burned and flown to Denver," resident Jennifer Seidl said. "She came down the stairs in flames and my step father helped her to get to safety … her whole body was on fire … they had to drag her out."

The Red Cross helped residents with lodging.
