Denver Author Has Message In Post-Election World

DENVER (CBS4) ― The election is over. Whether you're a McCain or Obama supporter, life goes on. Denver author John Miller and his daughter Kristin Lindeen are preaching the gospel of post-election accountability.

His book "QBQ: The Question Behind The Question" has sold nearly a million copies worldwide. The book offers simple solutions to taking ownership in your life, at home and in the office.

Miller and Lindeen sat down with CBS4's Tom Mustin to talk about how the QBQ principles apply to life after the election.

"What can I do today to make a difference, how can I contribute to the world, what can I do to help the other department reach their goals and not blame the other department if I work somewhere", says Miller.

Miller believes QBQ and his new book Flipping The Switch can be used as a template for voters in the post election world. It is his own version of the Straight Talk Express.

"Whether your guy won or lost, I still believe in this world today, personal accountability is still the secret to our success," Miller says.

Miller says McCain supporters need to resist the temptation to whine and point fingers. His message to Republicans: let go of things we can't control.

"We could make choices that take us down the path of victim thinking, blame and those things or we can choose to say what can we do to contribute to our world today, how can I be better in my job today? What can I do to move forward?" Miller says.

Miller and Lindeen say the QBQ message also applies to Obama supporters.

"Yes Obama is the president and he's going to make all these wonderful changes but we can't wait for those changes to happen. We need to be improving ourselves," says Lindeen.

She says the bottom line is, no matter who's in the Oval Office, we need to take charge of our own lives.

Her father agrees.

"I think one of the most interesting videos I saw on line was the Barack supporter who thought now that Barack is in office she wouldn't have to put gas in her car and wouldn't have to pay her mortgage," says Miller. "Obviously this person was a bit confused over what a new president could do. But what she was saying is 'now I won't have any problems,' and there's no accountability there either."

And as for the 57 million people who voted for John McCain? Miller says disappointed Republicans can make amends in 2012.

"Time to let it go. Time to move on and be the best we can be."
