The Colorado Department of Transportation said more drivers are avoiding heavy traffic by using the high-occupancy vehicle (HOV) toll lanes on Interstate 25.
Officials projected 500 toll-paying vehicles would use the express lanes during peak hours by the end of its first year Now, 10 months into the project, more than 1,400 toll payers use the HOV lanes during peak hours.
Revenues are nearly twice as much as what was expected. The money is used to cover the expenses previously paid by tax payers.
