Spielberg! Affleck! J.Lo!
They were among the celebrities attending events in Denver as Democratic National Convention delegates nominated Barack Obama as the party's presidential candidate Wednesday.
Steven Spielberg was spotted entering the Pepsi Center. Jennifer Lopez spoke at a reception honoring children's rights activist Marian Wright Edelman. And Ben Affleck read excerpts from a Howard Zinn book and made an appearance at the city's food bank for America's Second Harvest.
Affleck was joined by his wife, Jennifer Garner, at the book reading at the Starz Green Room across the street from the Pepsi Center. Also participating: Rosario Dawson, Kerry Washington, Taye Diggs and Josh Brolin.
George Lucas was among the entertainers and Hollywood types who were spotted in the halls of Invesco Field Thursday in the hours leading up to Barack Obama's historic acceptance speech.
Forest Whitaker arrived with his wife Keisha and Star Jones, while will.i.am of the Black Eyed Peas was spotted leaving the field level following Stevie Wonder's sound check.
Also spotted on the field in the hours leading up to the presentation: Daniel Dae Kim, Jessica Alba and her husband, Wilmer Valderrama, and Fergie.
Jennifer Hudson later sang the national anthem to a slowly filling stadium.
Rapper and music producer Kanye West says he regretted one thing when Barack Obama became the Democratic Party's presidential candidate Wednesday: His mother, Donda, didn't live to experience it.
The 31-year-old West told a crowd gathered for a performance early today in Denver that "It's an incredible time to be around," and he wishes his mother could have seen this day.
Jamie Foxx then joined West onstage and delivered an Obama song dedication.
The party was sponsored by Bono's ONE anti-poverty campaign and the Recording Industry Association of America. It drew celebrities including Forest Whitaker and Ashley Judd, who arrived with Foxx waving an American flag.
Pennsylvania Sen. Bob Casey, former Virginia Governor Mark Warner and former South Dakota Senator Tom Daschle were also there.
Donda West died in November, a day after she had breast reduction, tummy tuck and liposuction procedures.
Other celebrities joined civil rights leaders to honor the 45th anniversary of Dr. Martin Luther King's "I Have a Dream Speech."
The anniversary was Thursday.
Martin Luther King III was on hand to mark the occasion. Also on hand were Blair Underwood, Alfre Woodard, Louis Gosset, Jr. and Cecily Tyson who became very emotional while a letter Dr. King wrote was being read.
Democrats say they want to reaffirm their dedication to Dr. King's dream.
