Council Considers Law To Keep Coors Field's View

DENVER (AP) ― The Denver City Council will consider an ordinance to bar construction that would hinder mountain views from the Coors Field baseball park.

The ordinance being discussed Wednesday would set height restrictions on new structures west of the stadium. The Metropolitan Major League Baseball Stadium District, which owns the stadium, says the impact of the ordinance would be minimal because there is not much property left to develop in the area.

District Director Ray Baker says stadium owners paid $2.4 million a few months ago to a couple who at one point wanted to rezone their property to construct a tall building. Baker says the property will now be used for parking.
