County To Vote On Permit For Colo Uranium Mill
MONTROSE, Colo. (AP) ―
Montrose County planners are expected to vote on whether to recommend a special-use permit for a proposed uranium and vanadium mill in southwest Colorado.
Energy Fuels Inc., based in Toronto, wants to build the mill 12 miles west of Naturita and about 225 miles southwest of Denver.
The vote was rescheduled for Wednesday after the county Planning Commission heard hours of public comment in a June 12 hearing.
The county commissioners have the final say on the special use permit. The Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment would also have to approve the mill.
Energy Fuels has said it might take 10 years to have the proposed mill ready to operate.
