Judge To Sequester Witnesses In Nacchio Trial
DENVER (AP) ―
A judge has decided to keep witnesses isolated from one another in the insider trading trial of former Qwest Communications chief Joe Nacchio.
U.S. District Judge Edward Nottingham issued guidelines for sequestering the witnesses on Wednesday. He doesn't want witnesses to listen to or read the testimony of each other.
They're also prohibited from discussing testimony with one another.
Nottingham will preside over Nacchio's trial, which begins Monday in Denver federal court.
Nacchio has pleaded not guilty to 42 counts of insider trading. He's accused of improperly selling $101 million worth of stock based on non-public information.
Nacchio could face up to 10 years in prison and a $1 million fine on each count, if convicted.
