Police and wildlife officers in Parker were watching for signs of a mountain lion in Parker Thursday after a couple of sightings during the past few days in the Hidden River area.
The latest sighting was near Pioneer Elementary School at 10881 Riva Ridge St. at about 9 a.m. Thursday. Officers with the Division of Wildlife searched the area but didn't find a cougar.
Students at the school were allowed to go outside and go home at lunch. There was no lockdown.
Residents in Parker were first asked to be on the lookout for a mountain lion after a reported sighting in the same area late Tuesday night. After a search on Wednesday, nothing was found.
City officials were encouraging residents to make sure everyone in their families knows what to do if they spot a cougar. Authorities said anyone who saw a mountain lion should call 911.
Warning signs were also being posted to alert people to the possibility of a dangerous animal in the area.
