Report: Bear In Lyons Was Sick, Not Drunk
LYONS, Colo. (CBS4) ―
Wildlife officers said a black bear that appeared to be drunk last week was actually sick and had to be euthanized.
CBS4 showed images of the bear stumbling through the town of Lyons last week.
The state Division of Wildlife first told CBS4 the bear possibly had gotten intoxicated from eating fermented apples. After capturing her, she wouldn't eat so wildlife officers put her down.
Experts at Colorado State University will do tests to see what caused the animal's behavior, including whether the bear ate poisonous chemicals.
