"The biggest thing for me was knowing my daughter was safe and ok," said Pete Lamb. "But just seeing this brings up so many emotions and feeling and what other parents may be going through."
Pete Lamb said he first learned about the shootings when his daughter called.
Jeni said people in Colorado can understand the pain she's now feeling.
"Everyone in Colorado is a little familiar with the heartbreak and the pain we're all feeeling out here," she said. "Columbine wasn't that long ago and this is on so much more a massive scale."
Jeni's dad said he can't imagine the pain of hte parents who never heard from their children at Virginia Tech.
"My heart and soul would go out to them," Pete said.
Jeni Lamb said some of her friends left campus Monday and told her they weren't sure if they'd be back.
