Coroner: Single Stun Gun Blast Found On Man

LAFAYETTE, Colo. (AP) ― A blast from a stun gun that lasted six seconds contributed to the death of 22-year-old Ryan Michael Wilson last month, the Boulder County Coroner Thomas Faure concluded in his autopsy report.

Wilson, of Lafayette, died Aug. 4 after an officer shot him with a Taser during an arrest. He ran at least a half-mile from Lafayette police, who suspected him of growing marijuana.

Officer John Harris remained on paid leave while the county's shooting team investigated the death.

Wilson died of an irregular heartbeat associated with the stun gun blast, a narrow heart artery and physical exertion, Faure said. A single Taser wound was found on the left side of Wilson's chest.

A police report said that Wilson went into convulsions immediately after he was struck by the Taser. The man's father blames the device for his son's death.
