Hong Kong Suspends Beef From Kansas Company
HONG KONG (AP) ―
Hong Kong has suspending beef imports from a Kansas company just weeks after taking the same action against a Colorado processor.
Hong Kong's government claims beef products from the Wichita based Cargill Meat Solutions contains bone parts prohibited under rules aimed at preventing mad cow disease.
The same allegations were made last month against Swift and Company which headquartered in Greeley. That suspension has not been lifted.
A spokeswoman for the U.S. Consulate General in Hong Kong said at the time that the case involving Swift was an isolated one and that there's no risk of mad cow disease from a bone shard.
