Former Brighton Teacher Works On Plea Deal

FORT COLLINS, Colo. (CBS4) ― The teacher accused of having sex with a 17-year-old male student during a school trip to Estes Park waived her preliminary hearing Thursday morning in a Fort Collins courtroom.

Carrie McCandless has been working out a plea deal with prosecutors.

The former teacher from Brighton Charter High School was charged with sexual assault on a child for the alleged contact during the trip last October.

McCandless' husband, who is also the principal at the high school, was in court with her Thursday.

Her next court date was set for late April when a plea deal could be announced.
