A former Brighton Charter High School teacher accused of having sexual contact with a student has been offered a plea deal by prosecutors.
A preliminary hearing originally scheduled for Monday was postponed so Carrie McCandless and her attorney, Michael Trani, could have time to consider the offer.
The hearing has been rescheduled for Feb. 22.
McCandless, 30, is charged with sexual assault on a child by one in a position of trust and contributing to the delinquency of a minor.
The former social studies teacher and cheerleading coach is accused of giving a 17-year-old male student alcohol and of having improper contact with him while on a school-sponsored field trip to Estes Park in October.
McCandless is the wife of Brighton Charter High School Principal Chris McCandless.
