Officers Capture Bear In Englewood
Experts: Probably Same Bear Seen In Littleton
ENGLEWOOD, Colo. (CBS4) ―
Wildlife officers from the Division of Wildlife captured a bear in Englewood late Tuesday night that they suspected was the same animal that had been sighted in neighboring Littleton during the two previous days.
The bear was cornered near South Decatur Street and West Chenango Avenue on a telephone pole behind a bowling alley.
Englewood police first were called to the area at about 10:30 p.m. after several people saw the bear in the bowling alley parking lot at 4900 South Federal Blvd. Littleton police were also there after getting calls about the bear being in the parking lot of a Dairy Queen in their jurisdiction.
The animal was estimated to be about one year old by wildlife experts.
People in the bowling alley and other neighbors were told to stay inside until the bear was captured.
A DOW officer shot the bear with a tranquilizer dart and then took the animal into the mountains.
