DENVER (CBS4) ― The Home Depot released a statement to CBS4 reporter Rick Sallinger after the company pulled the product Tile Perfect Stand 'N Seal from the shelves. Here is the whole statement Rick received Wednesday:

The Home Depot places the highest priority on the safety and security of our consumers. We require the manufacturers with whom we do business to follow and abide by all applicable codes, laws and regulations for the products that we sell. In addition, we require them to immediately inform us of any product issues, since, with more than 40,000 products in a typical store, we often are not privy to all communications between the suppliers and distributors about potential problems. However, once The Home Depot learns of a product recall, we work to immediately remove the product from our shelves.

With approval from the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission, in late August 2005, Roanoke Companies voluntarily recalled certain batches of Stand 'N Seal spray-on grout sealer. Roanoke representatives removed all product from The Home Depot stores and replaced the product with non-recalled batches. The Home Depot continued to sell the non-recalled batches until March 2007. In March 2007, The Home Depot removed all remaining Stand 'N Seal product from its shelves when it learned that previously unknown formula changes that allegedly caused respiratory difficulties had occurred. Throughout its sale of Stand 'N Seal product, The Home Depot never knowingly sold any of the recalled product in our stores.

The Home Depot is working with Roanoke to make sure anyone injured from this product is treated fairly.
