Trailers Arrive In Holly For Tornado Victims

HOLLY, Colo. (CBS4) ― Families who lost their homes in last month's deadly tornado in Holly will get temporary shelter after 50 trailers began arriving Thursday.

According to a prepared statement released by Gov. Ritter's office, 20 mobile homes and 30 travel trailers were going to be provided by the state for the tornado victims. The price tag of the trailers totals $145,000.

The Federal Emergency Management Agency declared the trailers "surplus."

"Since the tornado struck Holly on March 28, FEMA has been extremely responsive," Gov. Ritter said. "These housing units will help provide some stability to those families in Holly whose homes were destroyed. They also will be invaluable as plans for rebuilding Holly move forward."

Ritter plans to return to Holly on April 28 with former Gov. Roy Romer, who is from Holly.

Most of the trailers were used by Hurricane Katrina and Hurricane Rita victims, but some have never been used.
