Colorado Hopes To Get More E-85 Pumps Built
DENVER (CBS4) ―
President Bush wants to replace 15 percent of regular gas consumption with alternatives fuels over the next 10 years. He voiced that goal during Tuesday night's State of the Union speech. Colorado is doing its part to help achieve the goal.
Gov. Bill Ritter's E-85 coalition has offered financial support to help gas station owners install alternative fuel equipment and pumps at their businesses.
Those who are approved could get up to $15,000 from the state.
Along with tax credits, station owners could cover most of their investment.
"If you're talking federal and state together, its close to 75 percent," said Troy Hill, the vice president and general manager of Hill Petroleum.
The governor's E-85 coalition also offers free marketing and technical advice to gas station owners who install alternative fuel pumps.
There are 12 public ethanol fuel pumps in Colorado at this time. The state hopes there will be 50 by the end of the year.
