Two high profile Denver murders remain unsolved and police are looking at a possible common thread between them.
The cases involve the murdered witness
Lonnie Clark and the killing of Denver Broncos player
Darrent Williams.
At the center of it all is
Brian Hicks, a reputed gang member, who was in jail at the time of both homicides.
Hicks was to go on trial for the attempted murder of Clark when she was gunned down in early December.
Hicks' wife, Kimaya James, was arrested on charges threatening Clark two days before she was murdered.
Willie Clark, who has no relation to Lonnie, grew up with Hicks and is being looked at in the Williams' murder. An SUV registered to Hicks has been recovered in connection with the Williams murder investigation.
James declined to answer questions from CBS4 as she left court on Tuesday. She remains on bond awaiting trial on the charges of threatening Lonnie Clark.
In the meantime,
Willie Clark remains in custody accused of violating parole, but was cleared of the traffic charges he had been facing.
His cousin appeared in court and pleaded guilty to driving the car in question.
"I think it's unfortunate that he is being held on what I would view as being a fairly innocuous matter by the parole department," said Michael Andre, Willie Clark's attorney. "It makes him a captive audience if and when anything is going to happen."
Police believe Willie Clark may have been in the car from which gunshots were fired at Williams' limo.
Though the investigations may be intertwined, there are still no arrests in the killings of either Williams or Lonnie Clark. Denver homicide detectives are handling the investigation in each of those cases.
