More than 150 people attended a fundraiser called Mollypalooza Tuesday night in downtown Denver. The money collected was for an East High School student injured in an accident on prom night.
Molly Bloom, 18, lost her leg and half of her pelvis after being run over by a limousine outside the prom.
A fundraiser was held Tuesday night at the Rock Island Night Club in LoDo. Three bands performed as items were auctioned. Dates with eight young men were also on the block.
The highlight of the evening was the auctioning of a date with actress Jessica Biel. A man who only wished to give his first name, John, offered the winning bid of $30,000 for the date. Jessica's father also made an appearance.
"I could be like 'Can I get this from you?' and people would be like 'Yeah, yes, what else do you need,'" Dmitri Leenatali, an event organizer said. "The amount of enthusiasm is unbelievable. It's the best thing I've ever been a part of."
Leenatali said he visited Bloom at Children's Hospital an hour before Tuesday's event. He said Bloom and her family thanked everyone in the community who has reached out to help them.
All of the money raised Tuesday night will help pay Bloom's medical bills.
