Friends Stand By Teen Critically Injured At Prom

by Molly Hughes
DENVER (CBS4) ― Friends of a teenager who was critically injured in a limousine accident said she's doing well considering everything she's gone through in the past month.

Molly Bloom, an East High School senior, was run over by her limo on prom night in May.

She initially struggled to survive and has since undergone multiple surgeries and endured serious infections.

Bloom's friends said she made friends wherever she went with her big smile and big heart.

"Molly is friends with everyone and everyone knows her," said Katie Hvranek, Bloom's friend. "It was so funny because you'll be at the hospital and there's somebody you've never met, but you're both really good friends with Molly."

Hvranek, Anslie O'Neill and Mary Higgins made up East High School's swim relay team with Bloom.

"In one second her life completely changed and it's kind of eye opening (because) anyone's life can just change," Higgins said.

Bloom's friends said they take one day at a time worrying about their dear friend.

"It's day to day but overall … she's doing really good," Hvranek said. "She's already just like laughing and starting to talk about other things. She's a trooper, she's awesome."

What happened to Bloom has changed not just her life but also the lives of everyone who loves her.

"When it just happens to someone you know and you're close to it's just, like, mind blowing," O'Neill said. "I can't even describe the feeling, you can't get over it."

Bloom's teammates firmly believe she will heal and find the strength to move forward again.

"She's just the most incredible person that I know and I wish everyday that I was more like Molly," Hvranek said.
