Hair Salon Raises Money For Injured Teen On Prom
by Suzanne McCarroll
DENVER (CBS4) ―
The teenager who lost her leg in an accident after East High School's prom is getting help from the community.
Molly Bloom, 17, was still recovering in the hospital on Wednesday, but her friends and fans were out on the town raising money.
Phoebe's Hair Apparent, a hair salon in Denver, organized the Molly Bloom Recovery Fund where 100 percent of the money for beauty treatments would go the fund.
Bloom went to Phoebe's the day of her senior prom to get her hair done.
"She and her friend Tara were in and they were just so excited about the whole thing, about her dress and just giggling," a hair stylist.
She said the hairstylists at the salon were horrified to hear what happened just hours after they saw Bloom.
"When I hung up the phone I said 'well, if there's anything I can do to help,'" she said. "I felt silly even saying that
and I just couldn't get it off my mind."
"I have a son in high school and it really touched my heart," said another stylist.
Some students at East High School were touched by the salon's generosity.
"I knew Molly would've loved this," said one of Bloom's friends. "She loves Phoebe's and it's just a great idea."
The fundraiser lasts all week and students from East High School can come in through June for $20 haircuts.
