Former Av Moore Heads To Court, Will Testify

DENVER (CBS4) ― Former Colorado Avalanche player Steve Moore is expected in Denver District Court Monday afternoon. A judge will consider jurisdiction in Moore's lawsuit against Todd Bertuzzi and others.

Moore was planning to testify at the hearing scheduled for 1:30 p.m.

The defendants are Bertuzzi, the Vancouver Canucks winger who attacked Moore from behind in the March 8, 2004, game in Vancouver, British Columbia; plus Canucks coach Marc Crawford, former team general manager Brian Burke, Colorado winger Brad May and the Vancouver franchise ownership.

Defense lawyers have filed motions to dismiss, arguing the civil case isn't appropriate for a Colorado courtroom.

Moore's legal team said a "conspiracy" to get revenge on Moore began in Denver in February of that year. The suit alleges the conspiracy began after an unpenalized Moore hit on Vancouver captain Markus Naslund knocked the Swedish center out of the lineup for three games.
