Pinon Canyon Comment Period Extended

DENVER (AP) ― Coloradans will get more time to comment on the proposed expansion of the Army's Pinon Canyon training site in southeast Colorado.

Senator Ken Salazar and Representative Mark Udall said public comments will be accepted through February 16.

Many ranchers and farmers whose land could be affected by an expansion were busy recovering from recent blizzards before an earlier deadline January 11 to comment.

The original comment deadline was November 27, but Republican Colorado Senator Wayne Allard asked for that to be extended so the public could take into account a new report by the Pentagon analyzing issues surrounding a potential expansion.
