A teacher arrested for allegedly having a sexual relationship with a 17-year old student is facing new charges.
Carrie McCandless, 30, is now charged with a felony for contacting her alleged victim early last week. The district attorney says an arrest warrant was issued on Friday.
The district attorney told CBS4 the allegation is that McCandless tried to contact the 17-year-old boy, which is against the conditions of her $20,000 bond in the sex assault case.
Once the former teacher at Brighton Charter High School turns herself in, she'll have to stay in jail until a judge has a chance to reconsider her bond.
Her attorney says it's not true and the call may have been the work of a prankster.
As of late Tuesday, McCandless had not yet turned herself in. A preliminary hearing for McCandless is set for Feb. 22 in Fort Collins.
