Teacher Appears In Court For Alleged Sex Crimes

Slideshow: Former Teacher In Court On Sex Charge

by Mike Hooker
FORT COLLINS, Colo. (CBS4) ― A teacher in Brighton accused of having sexual contact with a teenage student during a trip to Estes Park was back in court Friday morning. Carrie McCandless made her first appearance before a district court judge in Larimer County.

McCandless was fired from Brighton Charter High School and faced charges of sexual assault on a child by a person in a position of trust and contributing to the delinquency of a minor.

The charges came after an incident between McCandless and a 17-year-old student during a trip to the YMCA of the Rockies in Estes Park back in October.

She is free on bond and could face up to 12 years in prison if convicted.
