Sir Mario Owens Sentenced To Life

CENTENNIAL, Colo. (AP) ― A man facing the death penalty in an upcoming murder trial was sentenced in a related case Tuesday to life in prison without the possibility of parole.

Sir Mario Owens, 22, also was sentenced to 64 years in prison for two counts of attempted murder in a July 4, 2004, shooting at a park in suburban Aurora that killed Gregory Vann.

Robert Ray was sentenced in February to 108 years in prison for being an accessory to murder in Vann's death.

Ray and Owens both face first-degree murder charges in the June 2005 shooting deaths of two people, including a man who was scheduled to testify against them in Vann's death.

Prosecutors said Javad Marshall-Fields, 22, was a witness in the Vann case. He and his fiancee, Vivian Wolfe, 22, were shot several times while they sat in a car at an Aurora intersection and died from their wounds.
