Woman Hears 'Argument' Before Williams' Death

Share Your Sympathies Regarding Darrent Williams' Death

by Brian Maass
DENVER (CBS4) ― One of the last people to see Darrent Williams alive talked to CBS4 about witnessing an argument that may have led to his murder.

Denver police said they're looking into an altercation at the club called Shelter between Williams' friends and a second group of men.

Shea Hasan was at the New Year's Eve party hosted by Williams and other players with the Denver Broncos and Denver Nuggets.

"It was a star studded event, it really was," Hasan said. "It was fun. I didn't think anything was going to happen like that.

The 22-year-old and four of her friends were among hundreds of people packed into the club. Hasan knew Williams from the hip-hop club scene.

"I don't know him that well but we are on a hello-goodbye basis," Hasan said. "I said hello to him and didn't think that would be the last time I would say hi to him."

She said it was crowded in the club but enjoyable. The party eventually changed when she saw a group of Williams' friends and a second group of men gathered outside around the white, stretch hummer limousine.

"Some guys were standing in the street and there were some guys standing on the sidewalk and they were exchanging words," Hasan said. "I could hear people cursing obviously upset, I could tell the nature of what they were saying but couldn't tell exactly what they were saying."

"They were ticked off at one another," she added. "It wasn't a friendly exchange ... it was definitely heated."

Hasan said while Williams' friends were involved in the verbal altercation, she said the Bronco cornerback wasn't.

"While I was standing there I didn't hear him say anything and to my knowledge the altercation wasn't between him and the guys," Hasan said. "He didn't seem to be upset or agitated."

Hasan and her friends got in their car and left at the same time Williams' limo was pulling away. She said she found out the next morning that minutes later, someone had killed Williams.

From her perspective, Williams' death is even more senseless since he didn't appear to be involved in the argument outside the club.
