A Great City On Display At Colorado History Museum

Written by Critic at Large Greg Moody

DENVER (CBS4) ― The new exhibit at the Colorado History Museum is called "Imagine a Great City" and it traces the evolution of Denver from a prospector's camp to a cow town to the pinnacle of sophistication it is today.

State historian Bill Convery of the Colorado Historical Society told CBS4 they have 150 years of history in 5,000 square feet.

The exhibits explore the political, commercial and cultural growth of Denver as it grew into the Queen City of the Plains.

"We look at the neighborhoods as well as the political and economic scene and sports and recreation," Convery said.

The heroes and the villains are all there, as are the regular exhibits of the Colorado History Museum.

If you haven't been there, here's the perfect chance to walk through it at your leisure and get involved with the history of your city.

On Saturday the museum will be free with music, dancers and family exhibits all day long.

Also free on Saturday will be the Denver Zoo, the Botanic Gardens and the Museum of Contemporary Art. It's all part of the wrap up of Denver Arts Week.
