Teen Gets Stitches After Black Bear Takes A Swipe
COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (AP) ―
A 17-year-old Black Forest boy who found himself within the reach of a black bear is expected to be OK after getting some stitches in his scalp.
Andrew Horne was in his sleeping bag Saturday night at The Crags campground in Pike National Forest when he woke up to see the bear approaching him.
Horne and other family members managed to scare the animal away, but not before the bear took a swipe at his head.
The 190-pound bear ended up in a trap a short time later. Officials set the trap after the bear bothered people on two previous weekends.
Division of Wildlife spokesman Michael Seraphin said the roughly two-year-old animal was killed.
