Board: Montbello Charter School Can Stay Open

DENVER (CBS4) ― A charter school in Denver's Montbello neighborhood that was the focus of a CBS4 Investigation will be allowed to stay open.

The Denver Public School Board said Thursday it will not close the Challenges, Choices and Images School.

CBS4 found the school hired convicted felons to work in custodial and maintenance jobs. The school's assistant principal also had a criminal record.

DPS said the school will have to replace most of its administrative staff to be allowed to stay open.
