Denver Officer Suspended, Drug-Buying Suspected

Written by Brian Maass

DENVER (CBS4) ― A Denver police officer has been placed on administrative leave, suspected of involvement in buying cocaine and marijuana.

Multiple police sources say Officer Kevin Osborne, who was assigned to the Police Information Desk, was placed on paid leave early last week after being spotted multiple times at a suspected drug house in Lakewood.

Police sources say Osborne was in uniform, on duty and driving an unmarked Denver police car when authorities attempted to stop him last Monday night in Lakewood. Sources familiar with the case say FBI agents were involved in the case and that Osborne, behind the wheel of the police car, did not immediately stop and a short chase ensued -- police chasing police.

Police sources say the "drug house" Osborne was spotted at multiple times had been under surveillance by law enforcement authorities.

Osborne has not been arrested or charged with a crime but was relieved of duty after being interviewed by FBI agents.

CBS4 attempted to contact Osborne via phone and e-mail but did not succeed in reaching him for comment.
