Some people who live in Columbine Valley are angry over the city issuing parking tickets where there are no signs posted.
The town is a small community, population 1,300, nestled around the Columbine Country Club near Littleton, northwest of Santa Fe and Mineral.
Town officials said all the residents who live in Columbine Valley are well aware of the rules: you can't park on the street between 3 and 6 a.m.
If you do, you'll get slapped with a $30 fine.
"This parking ticket was for parking on the street prohibited between the hours of 3 and 6 a.m. in Columbine Valley," said Stuart Collins, a resident of Columbine Valley.
He wonders why his daughter got this ticket when he doesn't see any signs posted, warning drivers of the town rule.
"Totally ridiculous. I've never heard of such a thing. It sounded like a speed trap where there are no speed signs posted," said Collins.
The no-parking signs were removed some time ago, because residents found them unsightly.
CBS4's Rick Sallinger asked residents whether there should be signs.
"Yes, absolutely," said resident Tom Rowe. "People should know what the rules are when you come into a town and there should be a posting somewhere in the city."
The Columbine Valley police have issued 236 tickets in the past year for overnight parking violations. At $30 each, that's a potential $7,000 in renvenue.
The court clerk said people who challenge the tickets ususally win, because there aren't any no-parking signs.
