Christian School Principal Placed On Leave

Written by Brian Maass
MORRISON, Colo. (CBS4) ― The principal at Silver State Christian School in Morrison has been placed on leave with pay as investigators from the Jefferson County District Attorney's Office and the Morrison Police Department investigate Dan Brock's conduct with students.

Brock, a 35-year-old father, has been on leave for about a month as investigators have been probing accusations of potential misconduct involving some of Silver State's 240 students.

"I was worried, very worried," said parent Aaron Small who has a child at the school.

Small says he and other parents got a letter about a month ago indicating law enforcement was investigating the school administrator but the letter said little else.

"I was a little frustrated," Small said of the vague letter.

Brock referred calls and emails from CBS4 to his attorney, Terry O'Malley, who said, "I don't have enough information about the investigation and the allegations" to offer any comment. He said Brock "loves kids and has devoted his life to them."

O'Malley termed it a "frustrating" situation and warned that no one should draw any conclusions about the case without "the whole story."

Pam Russell, a spokesperson for the Jefferson County District Attorney's Office was tight-lipped about the probe. "We're looking into a situation," she said, declining to elaborate further.

One source familiar with the probe said investigators are looking into potential misconduct involving Brock and students. Investigators have traveled out-of-state to conduct additional interviews for their investigation.

Krista Nash, a parent and school spokesperson, said Brock was placed on administrative leave "just as a precaution to make sure kids are safe."

Paul Shelley, another administrator affiliated with the school, was asked the nature of the allegations that led to the investigation and suspension of the principal. "I can't speak to that," he said.
