Children's Hospital Gets $5M For Stem Cell Program

AURORA, Colo. (AP) ― The Children's Hospital has received $5 million that would allow the neighboring University of Colorado medical school to expand its stem cell research to encompass pediatrics.

The money is from the Gates Frontiers Fund, created by children of the late Colorado rubber tycoon and philanthropist Charles C. Gates.

The Gates family donated $6 million to the medical school last year to establish the stem cell research program.

The Children's Hospital plans to recruit a physician-scientist who will hold a new endowed chair to support the research.
