Parents Testify For New Naturopathic Physician Law
DENVER (CBS4) ―
The parents of a boy from Colorado who died under the care of a naturopathic physician testified before state lawmakers Thursday. The family of Sean Flanagan wants a law passed that would require naturopathic physicians to be licensed.
The parents spoke before the House Human Services Committee.
"We need to be the voice for Sean, since he's not here to be able to voice his opinion on this," said Laura Flanagan, Sean's mother. "We have to be the voice for him, to prevent this from happening to other people."
"The system worked, the guy went to jail," said Boyd Landry of the Coalition for Natural Health. "This bill would not have kept that from happening, and that's something we all have to keep in mind. We're overreacting."
The physician who killed Sean Flanagan is now serving prison time.
