Some people make blood donation a way of life, giving every time they are eligible. Over the years that adds up to gallons of blood donated and thousands of lives saved.

Richard Loya is no stranger to giving blood. In July, he made his 60 gallon donation - a goal reached over years of consistant giving.
"It makes me feel wonderful," Loya told CBS4
Over the years, Loya has saved some 1,440 lives. Of those he met one person who received his blood, it made a lasting impression.
"It was such a wonderful feeling to realize that because of my donation and many other donations this man has an opportunity for a great life," Loya said.
Bill Cell also regularly gives up his blood cells for more than 5 decades. He agrees donation makes you feel good.
"If you ever feel unappreciated, go give blood, man, you never felt so appreciated in all your life," Cell said.
He remembers the first time he gave blood in 1946.
"I remember I got $25 for a pint and a shot of whiskey," Cell told CBS4.
Now, 70 gallons later, he doesn't get whiskey, but he did get a cake. Cell has given more blood than any other Bonfils Blood Center donor. He says blood donation became a regular part of his life over the years and he hopes more people will give it a try.
