Medical Pot To Be Discussed At Telluride, Vail
TELLURIDE, Colo. (AP) ―
Telluride and Vail are the latest Colorado towns wrestling with how to regulate medical marijuana dispensaries.
On Monday, the Vail Planning and Environmental Commission voted to suggest approving dispensaries in specific zoning areas, with various conditions. The Town Council will take up the issue later.
Telluride officials also were meeting Monday to discuss zoning rules. Telluride Mayor Stu Fraser says the town's elected officials want to solve the matter before elections in November.
Besides zoning, the town will discuss sales taxes for dispensaries and what signs to allow.
Colorado voters in 2000 approved the use of marijuana for medical reasons, but local governments can control where the dispensaries can open.
