Rep. Salazar Breaks Party Ranks On Climate Bill

WASHINGTON (AP) ― Colorado's members of Congress voted along party lines in the House climate bill — except for Democratic Rep. John Salazar, who voted against it.

Salazar said in a statement after Friday's vote that the bill would put a "disproportionate burden" on people living on Colorado's Western Slope, where gas and oil drilling is a major employer.

Salazar said he may have supported the bill if it included an expansion of coal and nuclear energy. The bill sets nation's first limits on pollution linked to global warming. It passed the House 219-212 and now heads to the Senate.
