If you saw a giant man hit a golf drive in your direction and then wave from the tee, indicating he was sorry that he almost hit you, would you pick up his ball and toss it into the weeds?
That's what one man did in Broomfield on Tuesday during the Mike Shanahan Golf Classic.
The tournament, an annual fundraiser that raises money for building parks and athletic fields for children, is held at the Omni Interlocken Golf Course and features many players on the roster.
Shanahan joked with CBS4 that he gets a little suspicious if one of his players gets too proficient on the golf course. On Monday CBS4 showed video that's proof positive he doesn't have to worry about Kenny Peterson.
Peterson, a defensive lineman whose profile on DenverBroncos.com lists him at 292 pounds, took a notably poor swing while a CBS4 camera crew was with his golfing party.
"Oh God! I might've hit that guy over there," said the big man.
After determining the man didn't get pegged, Peterson yelled out "Sorry -- Didn't mean that" and waved.
The man, whom CBS4 didn't identify, looked rather nonplussed when CBS4's camera zoomed in on him. He looked down, picked up Peterson's ball and then tossed it up onto the hill he was standing next to. Then he turned and walked off.
That didn't seem to please Peterson one bit. "I'm going to get my ball back," he said.
"Give me back my ball!" he bellowed. (There was no word on whether Peterson's golfing license was suspended after the incident.)
Like Peterson, most of the players on the Denver Broncos aren't professional-grade golfers, but as far as their coach is concerned that's sort of a good thing.
"To be honest with you, I'm not sure how many players we have who are great golfers, but, as we all know, the better we get at that sport the worse you are at your endeavors, so if we don't have too many great players that could be good for us," Shanahan joked.
The Broncos are now in their final week of their June team camp after Monday's break on the links. The dates for Training Camp haven't been announced yet.
