State-Hopping Golfers Spread The Word In Denver

Atlanta Men Raise Money For Cancer Research

DENVER (CBS4) ― CBS4 anchor Vic Lombardi thought he was nuts when he played golf eight out of nine days.

Then he found out about Craig Forney and Bill Evans, two Atlanta men who are in the midst of their attempt at playing golf for 50 straight days in 50 different states.

They played at the Wellshire Golf Course on South Colorado Boulevard Monday morning.

The two men began their odyssey a month ago in Vermont and have been traveling from state to state in an RV.

The goal is to raise a $1 million for cancer research.

They say their hands are blistered and their legs are tired but they just keep hacking away.

"It's funny, because taking 50 days off in a row -- you're really not taking 50 days off," Bill Evans told CBS4. "You've got family, you've got friends, you've got business to take care of, and I have to take care of business every day back in Atlanta. So mentally it's really a grind."

The pair plans to complete their mission on July 22 in Hawaii.
