DENVER (CBS4) ― The Apr. 7 episode of Colorado Getaways featured Rocky Mountain Arsenal National Wildlife Refuge's wild bison, the Plains Conservation Center in Aurora, "Ponderosa" Harv Teitelbaum, stocking the state's rivers with fish and the Denver Botanic Gardens' Big Bugs Exhibit.

• ROCKY MOUNTAIN ARSENAL NATIONAL WILDLIFE REFUGE WELCOMES WILD BISON
Sixteen genetically pure bison from the National Bison Range in Montana have been relocated on 1400 acres at this refuge just northeast of Denver. Public tours now include views of these majestic animals on the range. Call 303-289-0930 for tour reservations. www.fws.gov/rockymountainarsenal. The entrance gate is located at 56th and Havana.

• PLAINS CONSERVATION CENTER
A small patch of the once vast shortgrass prairie has been preserved just north of Hampden Ave. between Tower Road and E 470 in Aurora. All kinds of education programs all year long are available. Home to rabbits, prairie dogs, rattlesnakes, antelope, raptors and other prairie critters, the Plains Conservation Center offers a glimpse into the landscape before western settlement. 303-693-3621. www.plainsconservationcenter.org. • TREE CLIMBING COLORADO
"Ponderosa" Harv Teitelbaum loves to climb trees...safely. So he straps on a harness, throws a rope over a high limb and spends hours living life in the Arbor world. • DENVER BOTANIC GARDENS "BIG BUGS" EXHIBIT
Sculptor David Rogers has inhabited the Botanic Gardens with giant insects like a 1200 pound praying mantis. These wonderful wood sculptures will be on view through June 24th. The Gardens are located at 10th and York in Denver. www.botanicgardens.org. 720-865-3500.
