Park Ready For Mile High Music Festival

COMMERCE CITY, Colo. (CBS4) ― The first ever Mile High Music Festival is this weekend at Dick's Sporting Goods Park in Commerce City. Crews were putting the finishing touches on the stages and other facilities for the event Friday.

An estimated 50,000 people are expected to attend the two day festival.

A dozen of big name music acts along with up-and-coming bands will perform on five stages each day.

"The first year, there are always kinks to work out," Chuck Morris, festival organizer said. "Be patient, but everyone is going to have a great time musically."

Volunteers will be at tents across the park during the festival to educate people about recycling. The effort hopes to get at least 50 percent of the waste during the festival recycled.

The festival will also host a food drive. People who bring 10 cans of food will get a free poster. The food will be donated to the Food Bank of the Rockies.

People attending the festival are reminded that the weather will be hot and mostly dry this weekend with highs in the upper 90s and plenty of sunshine. (Complete weekend forecast)
