Britney Spears' Driver's License Case Goes To Jury

LOS ANGELES (AP) ― A jury in Los Angeles is determining whether Britney Spears will have a new record: a criminal one.

Prosecutors and defense attorneys made their final arguments Friday morning in the pop singer's driving-without-a-license case. The jury of eight women and four men began deliberations shortly thereafter.

Spears hit a parked car last year while driving in California on her Louisiana license. Her attorney says she didn't meet the state's residency requirements and was within the law.

But prosecutors say the 26-year-old had gotten married, had two children and filed for divorce in Los Angeles, and was ostensibly a California resident.

Spears did not attend any of the two-day trial.
