Brendan Fraser, Afton Smith Split After 9 Years

LOS ANGELES (AP) ― Brendan Fraser will begin 2008 as a single man.

The 39-year-old actor announced today he and his wife, Afton, are ending their nine-year marriage.

Fraser's publicist said in a statement, "They continue to maintain a close and caring friendship."

The couple wed in 1998 and have three children.

Fraser's screen credits include "George of the Jungle," "The Mummy" and "Crash."
