Democratic Convention Planners Ready For Anything

DENVER (CBS4) ― As the campaign for a Democratic presidential campaign drags on late into the spring, the organizers of the party's national convention in Denver this August say they're ready for any possible political showdown during the event.

"We have any number of scenarios that are mapped out, that's our job and we're in the business for planning for everything," said Jenni Engebretsen, deputy CEO for public affairs at the Democratic National Convention Committee.

The DNCC would clearly prefer to have a nominee as soon as possible so that the event can be planned around one candidate and be as smooth as possible. Organizers said at the same time, they don't want that to get in the way of the process.

"That's what we do we're in the business of planning for any number of scenarios, but I think what's most important is that we continue to let this voting process play out," said Engebretsen.

The DNCC continues to plan regardless of how close the race is. It hopes to ensure a situation that Clinton or Obama can easily step in to.

"Then a nominee can really come in and put his or her stamp on it headed into the convention," said Engebretsen.
