DENVER (AP) ― Democratic National Convention organizers abruptly delayed a meeting with news media representatives next week, admitting today that they aren't ready.

Hundreds of media representatives were planning to attend the event next Thursday at the Pepsi Center, where Democrats will gather August 25th-28th to choose their presidential candidate.

A Democratic National Convention Committee official who asked not to be identified told The Associated Press the delay was caused by a combination of financial and logistical concerns.

The host committee faces a Monday deadline imposed by the Democratic National Committee for raising 40.6 million dollars for the convention. The committee reported last month it had just 25 million dollars in cash.
